Jumper und Anschlüsse:
Die Festplatte hat neben dem Strom- und Festplattenkabel-Anschluss auch eine mehrpoliges Stiftfeld, das sich neben den anderen Anschlüssen oder auf der Elektronikplatte auf der Unterseite der Festplatte befinden kann.
Von den meist 4 Doppelpins, die mit Jumpern verschlossen werden können, ist ein Paar oder zwei Paare für die Slave / Master Festlegung vorgesehen. Es gibt folgende Einstellungen: Master alleine, Master mit Slave und Slave, wobei die 2 Mastereinstellungen oft in einer zusammengefasst werden.
Aus dieser komplizierten Beschreibung sehen Sie bereits, dass ohne eine Beschreibung es fast unmöglich ist die Jumper richtig zu setzen.
Aber auch mit Beschreibung, die sich oft auf der Plattenoberseite befindet sollte man die Jumper mit Sorgfalt und Überlegung stecken. Festplatten ohne Beschreibung sollte man unter keinen Umständen akzeptieren.
Fast DRAM Refrech (Standard: Enabled)
Bei Disabled wird durch einen Refrech nach 32 Takten, das System verlangsamt.
Fast EDO Path select: (Standard: Disabled)
Bei Enabled wird der Lead-Off Zyklus verkürzt , wenn ausschließlich EDO RAM verwendet wird.
Global 430HX Enable
Bietet die Möglichkeit die erweiterten Möglichkeiten des 430 HX an, oder abzuschalten,
ISA [Bus] Clock. (Standard: PCICLK/4)
Ermöglicht die Auswahl Verhältnisses zwischen PCI und PCI ISA. Bei PCI= 33 MHz ist PCI CLK/4 = 8.33 MHz und PCI CLK/3 = 11 MHz für ISA.
IDE HDD Block Mode. (Standard: Enabled)
"Enabled" ermöglicht dem Festplattenkontroller den schnellen Block Mode zu verwenden um Daten zu übertragen, was mit den neueren Festplatten möglich ist.
